The project, selected as the winning entry of a 2024 competition, proposes a new terminal for a small regional airport in Kakheti—Georgia’s leading wine and cultural tourism region. Responding to increased travel demand, the design focuses on creating a clear, flexible spatial structure that enhances the passenger experience while allowing for future adaptability.
Public areas—including the hall, departure, and arrival lounges—are organized along the perimeter to maximize natural light and visual connectivity, both internally and toward the surrounding landscape. These zones are divided by glass partitions to maintain openness while allowing functional separation. A compact, two-level central volume houses operational, administrative, and support functions, wrapped in a semi-transparent U-glass skin that responds to interior programmatic needs.
Material choices such as pigmented concrete, glass, and aluminum reinforce a minimal, durable, and regionally sensitive aesthetic.
